Namak paani ke garaare
Warm salt water gargle
Ek glass gungune paani me aadha chhota chammach namak ghol kar garaare karna. Gale ki kharaash ke liye NHS bhi yahi likhta hai, par bachchon ko garaare nahi karwane chahiye.
Kya chahiye
- 1 glass gungunaa paani
- 1/2 chhota chammach namak
Kaise banate hain
Ek glass gungune paani me aadha chhota chammach namak ghol lein — halka garam paani ho to namak jaldi ghulta hai, lekin itna garam na ho ki munh jal jaaye. Ek ghoont munh me lein, sar thoda peeche karke gale me 20-30 second tak garaare karein, phir thook dein. Paani nigalna nahi hai. Isi tarah poora glass khatam karein. Din me teen-chaar baar, ya jitni baar aaram lage. Bachchon se garaare na karwayein — NHS bhi mana karta hai, kyunki woh namak wala paani nigal jaate hain aur ghoot bhi sakte hain. Har baar taaza ghol banayein, rakha hua nahi. Ye sirf gale ko aaram dene ke liye hai; agar nigalna mushkil ho raha hai ya saans phool rahi hai to garaare nahi, doctor chahiye.
Dissolve half a teaspoon of salt in a glass of warm water; warm water helps the salt dissolve, but it must never be hot enough to scald your mouth. Take a mouthful, tilt your head back and gargle at the back of the throat for twenty to thirty seconds, then spit it out. Do not swallow it. Work through the glass the same way. Three or four times a day, or as often as it feels good. Do not have children gargle — the NHS advises against it, because they swallow the salty water and can choke on it. Mix a fresh glass each time. This is only for making a throat feel easier; if swallowing has become hard or breathing is laboured, that needs a doctor, not a gargle.
Parampara kya kehti hai
Gharon me kaha jaata hai ki namak gale ki soojan ko 'kheench' leta hai aur keetanu dho deta hai. Bahut log sardi ke pehle hi din se garaare shuru kar dete hain, is bharose me ki khaansi gale se neeche seene tak nahi utregi. Ye peedhiyon se chali aa rahi aadat hai — aaram kis wajah se lagta hai, iska ghar par koi hisaab nahi hota.
Households say salt draws the swelling out of the throat and washes the germs away. Many people start gargling on the very first day of a cold, hoping to stop it before it settles into the chest. It is a habit passed down through generations; why it feels better has never been worked out at home.

Sirf parampara
Ye un chand gharelu nuskhon me hai jinhe bade sarkari health idaare bhi likhte hain: NHS gale ki kharaash ke liye gungune namkeen paani ke garaare batata hai, aur MedlinePlus sardi me isi ka zikr karta hai. Lekin dono me se koi iske peeche koi trial nahi dikhaata, aur namak wale paani ke garaaron par sardi ya us se hone wale gale dard ke liye koi randomised study nahi mili. Jo study sabse zyada quote hoti hai — Japan, 2005 — usme saade paani se garaare karwaye gaye the, namak se nahi; usne ye dekha tha ki infection ruka ya nahi, ye nahi ki gale ko aaram mila ya nahi; aur Wikipedia khud likhta hai ki kai doctor us nateeje par shak karte hain. Yani ye purani clinical aadat hai jise bade idaare aaj bhi dohraate hain, koi napa-tula nateeja nahi. Aaram mil sakta hai; sardi jaldi khatam hoti ho, iska saboot nahi.
This is one of the few household remedies that official health bodies also list: the NHS advises gargling with warm, salty water for a sore throat, and MedlinePlus mentions it for colds. But neither points to a trial behind it, and no randomised study of salt-water gargling for a cold or the sore throat it brings was found. The study usually quoted in its defence, from Japan in 2005, had people gargle plain water rather than salt, measured whether infections were prevented rather than whether a throat was soothed, and — as Wikipedia notes — some doctors are sceptical of it. So this is long clinical custom that official bodies still repeat, not a measured result. It may soothe; there is no proof it shortens a cold.
