Selection process

1. 1Paper-I (Computer Based Examination)Objective Multiple Choice Type, 4 parts of 50 questions / 50 marks each, 2 Hours with a sectional timer of 30 minutes per part, negative marking of 0.25 marks per wrong answer. On the basis of performance in Paper-I (including bonus marks in case of NCC certificate), candidates are shortlisted for PST/PET. The Commission has discretion to fix different cut-off marks in each part of Paper-I.
2. 2Physical Standard Test (PST) / Physical Endurance Test (PET)Mandatory but qualifying in nature; PST/PET will not carry any marks but will be of qualifying/elimination nature. PST (for all posts) covers height norms (separate norms for SI in Delhi Police and SI in CAPFs), chest measurement for male candidates and weight corresponding to height; there shall be no minimum requirement of chest measurement for female candidates. PET for male candidates: 100 metre race in 16 seconds; 1.6 Kms race in 6.5 minutes; Long Jump 3.65 metre in 3 chances; High Jump 1.2 metre in 3 chances; Shot put (16 Lbs) 4.5 metre in 3 chances. PET for female candidates: 100 metre race in 18 seconds; 800 metre race in 4 minutes; Long Jump 2.7 metre in 3 chances; High Jump 0.9 metre in 3 chances. Ex-Servicemen are not required to undergo PET. Candidates declared not qualified in Physical Standards (height and chest) may appeal to the appellate authority present on the PST/PET ground, whose decision is final.
3. 3Paper-II (Computer Based Examination)Only those candidates who qualify in PST/PET will be allowed to appear in Paper-II. English Language & Comprehension, 200 questions, 200 marks, 2 Hours, divided into four parts with a sectional timer of 30 minutes for each part, Objective Multiple Choice Type, negative marking of 0.25 marks per wrong answer. Marks count toward final selection.
4. 4Detailed Medical Examination (DME) / Review Medical Examination (RME)On the basis of performance in Paper-I and Paper-II (including bonus marks in case of NCC certificate), candidates are shortlisted for Medical Examination. All candidates who qualify in Paper-II will be medically examined by the Medical Officer of the CAPFs or any other Medical Officer or Assistant Surgeon belonging to Grade-I of any Central/State Govt. Hospital or Dispensary. RME of candidates found unfit during DME will be conducted in continuation of DME, preferably on the next day; the decision of the Re-Medical Board/Review Medical Board is final. Eye sight: minimum near vision N6 (better eye) and N9 (worse eye); minimum distant vision 6/6 (better eye) and 6/9 (worse eye) of both eyes without any correction like wearing glasses or surgery of any kind. The candidate must not have knock knee, flat foot, varicose vein or squint in eyes and should possess high colour vision, and must be in good mental and bodily health. DME/RME stage is mandatory but qualifying in nature.
5. 5Document VerificationDocument Verification will be conducted by the CAPFs before declaration of final result, preferably alongwith the DME/RME stage. Candidates qualified in DME/RME stage and Document Verification stage will be considered for final selection.

Merit kaise banti hai: Final selection and allocation of Post/Force will be made on the basis of the performance of candidates in Paper-I and Paper-II (including bonus marks in case of NCC certificate) and the preference of Posts/Forces exercised by them. PST/PET and DME/RME are mandatory but qualifying in nature and carry no marks toward merit.
