Selection process

1. 1Computer Based Examination (CBE)One objective paper of 80 questions carrying 2 marks each in four Parts (A to D), 60 minutes, with negative marking of 0.25 marks per wrong answer. Minimum qualifying marks (before NCC bonus): UR 30%, OBC/EWS 25%, all other categories 20%. Scores are normalized as per the Commission's Notice dated 02.06.2025.
2. 2Shortlisting for PET/PSTMale and female candidates are shortlisted state-wise, area-wise and category-wise on merit in the CBE (including NCC bonus marks, if applicable). The number shortlisted for PET/PST will be about 8 (Eight) times the number of vacancies; more candidates can be shortlisted against SSF vacancies.
3. 3Physical Efficiency Test (PET)Race to be cleared within the prescribed time limits: Male 5 Kms in 24 minutes and Female 1.6 Kms in 8 1/2 minutes for candidates other than those of the Ladakh Region; Male 1.6 Kms in 7 minutes and Female 800 metres in 5 minutes for candidates of the Ladakh Region. Ex-Servicemen are exempted from PET/PST. There is no appeal in PET (Race).
4. 4Physical Standard Test (PST)Measurement of height, weight and chest (as applicable) after biometric verification. Height: Male 170 cms, Female 157 cms, with relaxations for specified categories. Male chest: 80 cms un-expanded with minimum expansion of 5 cms, with relaxations. Chest measurements are not taken for female candidates; weight must be proportionate to height and age. Conducted by the CAPFs.
5. 5Shortlisting for DME/ DVCandidates successful in PET/PST are shortlisted state-wise, area-wise and category-wise on merit in the CBE (including NCC bonus marks) for DME/DV. The number shortlisted will be about 2 (Two) times the number of vacancies; more candidates can be shortlisted against SSF vacancies.
6. 6Detailed Medical Examination (DME)/ Review Medical Examination (RME)Shortlisted candidates are medically examined by Medical Boards constituted by the CAPFs to assess physical and medical fitness, in terms of the MHA Uniform Guidelines for recruitment Medical Examination for GOs and NGOs in CAPFs and AR.
7. 7Document Verification (DV)Collection of required eligibility certificates/documents and their verification against originals, conducted by the CAPFs along with the Detailed Medical Examination. Documents include the Matriculation/Secondary certificate, Domicile/PRC, valid NCC certificate if applicable, caste certificate and height/chest relaxation certificates as applicable. If a valid NCC Certificate cannot be produced at DV, the provisionally awarded bonus marks are withdrawn.
8. 8Final merit and force allocationOnly candidates qualified in PET/PST and Medical Examination/DV are considered for inclusion in the final merit list. Final selection, along with force allocation, is made on the basis of the normalized marks scored in the CBE (including NCC bonus marks), separately for male and female candidates, in each category (Un-Reserved, SC, ST, OBC, EWS and ESM), for each State/UT and further earmarked area of Border Guarding and Militancy/Naxal affected Districts wherever applicable; SSF selection is on an All-India basis. Allotment of CAPFs/Organizations is on 'Merit in the CBE (including NCC bonus marks)'-cum-'Preference of CAPFs/Organization' exercised in the Online Application Form.
9. 9Resolution of tie-casesA tie in CBE scores (including NCC bonus marks) is resolved in this order: (1) Marks in Part-A, (2) Marks in Part-B, (3) Marks in Part-C, (4) Date of Birth with older candidates placed higher, (5) Alphabetical order of names of the candidates.
