Is glass a very slow-moving liquid?
No. Glass is an amorphous solid, not a liquid that creeps. Old window panes are thicker at the bottom because the crown and cylinder methods used before the 20th century made uneven sheets, not because the glass flowed.

In English
Glass is a frozen-in-disorder solid: its atoms are arranged without the regular lattice of a crystal, but they are not in liquid flow. The idea that medieval window panes are thicker at the bottom because the glass slowly dripped down has been checked and rejected. Professor Edgar D. Zanotto of the Federal University of São Carlos published a 1998 study in the American Journal of Physics showing that for typical medieval glass at room temperature, the time scale for any visible flow would be more than 10^32 years, vastly longer than the age of the universe. The thickness comes from how crown glass was made: a bubble was blown, spun flat, and the centre sagged under gravity while still hot, leaving the edges thinner. The thicker pieces were simply set at the bottom by the glazier. NIST lists glass as a non-crystalline solid in its standard reference data.
