Ajwain aur kala namak
Carom seeds with black salt
Bhaari khane ke baad pet me gas aur bhaaripan lage to aadha chammach ajwain, chutki bhar kale namak ke saath garam paani se lene ka aam gharelu tarika.
Kya chahiye
- 1/2 chhota chammach ajwain (isse zyada nahi)
- 1 chutki kala namak
- 1 cup garam paani
Kaise banate hain
Aadha chhota chammach ajwain lijiye, isse zyada nahi. Do tarike chalte hain. Pehla: ajwain ko chutki bhar kale namak ke saath chaba lijiye aur upar se garam paani pi lijiye. Doosra: ek cup paani me ajwain daal kar 3 se 4 minute ubaal lijiye, chaan kar halka garam piyein. Khane ke lagbhag aadha ghanta baad lena log behtar maante hain. Din me ek ya do baar se zyada nahi, aur ise rozana ki aadat mat banaiye. Maatra khaane jitni hi rakhiye - Wikipedia ke mutabik bahut adhik maatra me khane par ajwain se jaanleva poisoning tak ho sakti hai, aur ajwain ka tel ya 'ajwain ka ark' concentrated hota hai, use is tarah bilkul mat lijiye. Agar aapko acidity ya jalan rehti hai to ajwain se takleef badh sakti hai, aise me chhod dijiye. Garam ajwain ki potli kisi bachche ke pet par mat rakhiye - potli ki garmi se bachche ki naram twacha jal sakti hai, aur bachche ka pet dard khud me doctor ko dikhane wali baat hai.
Take half a level teaspoon of carom seeds, no more. There are two ways. First, chew the seeds with a pinch of black salt and drink warm water afterwards. Second, boil the seeds in a cup of water for 3 to 4 minutes, strain, and drink it warm. Most people take it about half an hour after food. Do not go beyond once or twice a day, and do not turn it into a daily habit. Keep the amount to what you would use in cooking - Wikipedia notes that taken orally in high amounts, ajwain can result in fatal poisoning, and carom oil or concentrated ajwain extract must never be taken this way. If you already get acidity or burning, carom seeds can make it worse, so leave it alone. Do not put a heated pouch of carom seeds on a child's stomach - the heat can burn a child's thin skin, and a child's stomach pain is itself a reason to see a doctor.
Parampara kya kehti hai
Ghar-ghar me ajwain ko gas nikalne wali cheez maana jata hai. Kehte hain ki isme mojood thymol pachan ko tez karta hai, isliye poori, paratha aur besan wale khane me ajwain daali jati hai. Bachche ke pet dard me garam ajwain ki potli sekne ka riwaaj bhi raha hai, lekin us aadat me jalne ka asli khatra hai aur hum use salaah ke taur par nahi de rahe. Wikipedia ke mutabik ise Ayurveda jaisi herbalism practice me is vishwas ke saath istemaal kiya jata hai ki ye kai takleefon me kaam aati hai, par ye maanyata hai, sabooth nahi.
Across Indian kitchens carom seeds are considered a wind-expelling ingredient. It is said that the thymol in them speeds up digestion, which is why they go into puris, parathas and gram-flour dishes. Warming a cloth pouch of carom seeds on a child's stomach has also been a familiar custom, but that habit carries a real burn risk and we are not passing it on as advice. Wikipedia notes it is used in herbalism practices such as Ayurveda in the belief that it helps with various disorders, which is a belief and not proof.
Shodh kya kehti hai
Sirf parampara
Ajwain me thymol hota hai, ye sach hai - Wikipedia ke mutabik iske beej se nikla essential oil mukhya roop se thymol hi hota hai. Lekin masale me thymol hone ka matlab ye nahi ki ek chammach ajwain se gas nikal jayegi. Wikipedia saaf likhta hai ki is baat ka koi accha sabooth nahi hai ki ajwain kisi bhi bimari me kaargar hai. NHS ki badhazmi wali guidance me ajwain ka naam tak nahi hai, wahan chhote meal, chai-coffee-cola kam karna aur antacid ki baat hai; gas wali guidance me pudine ki chai likhi hai, ajwain nahi. Humein insaanon par ajwain ka koi dhang ka trial nahi mila. Yani ye abhi sirf ghar ki purani aadat hai, aur badi maatra me ye nuksandeh hai.
Carom seeds do contain thymol, that part is true - Wikipedia notes the essential oil distilled from them consists primarily of thymol. But thymol being present in a spice does not mean a spoonful of it will move your gas. Wikipedia states plainly that there is no good evidence ajwain works for any disease. The NHS guidance on indigestion does not mention carom seeds at all; it points to cutting down on tea, coffee and cola, avoiding rich, spicy and fatty food, and antacids, while its wind guidance names peppermint tea and not carom. We found no worthwhile human trial. So for now this stays an old household habit, and in large amounts a harmful one.
