Thanda teether aur masoodon ki maalish
Chilled teether and gum rubbing
Daant nikalte waqt saaf ungli se masoodon par halki maalish, aur 6 mahine se bade bachche ko fridge me thanda kiya hua teether ya geela soothi kapda chabane ke liye dena.
Kya chahiye
- 1 saaf soothi kapda (halka geela karke fridge me thanda kiya hua)
- 1 teething ring (fridge me, freezer me nahi)
- apni sabun se dhuli hui ungli
Kaise banate hain
Haath sabun se achhi tarah dhoyein. Saaf ungli se bachche ke masoodon par halke se, gol-gol, ek-do minute maalish karein — dabaav bahut halka rakhein. Ye hissa kisi bhi umar me kiya ja sakta hai. Chabane ke liye kuch dena sirf 6 mahine se bade bachche ke liye hai. Ek saaf soothi kapda thoda geela karke 20-30 minute fridge me rakhein, phir bachche ko chabane dein. Teething ring bhi isi tarah fridge me thanda karein — freezer me bilkul nahi, kyunki jama hua ring naram masoodon ko chot pahuncha sakta hai. Teether ek hi tukde ka ho, itna bada ho ki poora muh me na ja sake, aur har baar dekh lein ki usme daraar to nahi — toota hua tukda gale me atak sakta hai. Jab tak bachcha chaba raha ho, seedha bithaakar paas hi baithein, ek pal ke liye bhi akela na chhodein. Gajar, kheera ya seb ke sakht kachche tukde chabane ko dena is nuskhe ka hissa nahi hai — inka tukda toot kar saans ki nali me ja sakta hai. Kapda har baar dhokar hi dobara istemal karein.
Wash your hands with soap. Using a clean finger, rub the baby's gums in small circles for a minute or two, with very light pressure — this part is safe at any age. Giving anything to chew is only for babies over six months. Dampen a clean cotton cloth, chill it in the fridge for 20 to 30 minutes, and let the baby chew on it. A teething ring can be chilled the same way — never in the freezer, because a frozen ring can bruise soft gums. Use a single-piece ring that is too big to fit whole in the mouth, and check it for cracks each time; a broken-off piece can lodge in the throat. Sit the baby upright, stay beside them the whole time they are chewing, and do not leave them alone with it even briefly. Hard raw pieces of carrot, cucumber or apple are not part of this — a fragment can snap off and go into the airway. Wash the cloth before using it again.
Parampara kya kehti hai
Gharon me kaha jaata hai ki daant nikalte waqt bachche ko koi thandi aur sakht cheez chabane ko de do to masoodon ka dard aur khujli baith jaati hai, aur ungli se maalish karne par daant jaldi bahar aa jaata hai. Kai ghar shahad, ghee ya cheeni bhi masoodon par malne ki salah dete hain — lekin shahad 1 saal se chhote bachche ko kisi bhi roop me nahi diya jaata (infant botulism ka khatra), aur cheeni nikalte hue daanton ko nuksaan pahunchati hai. Ye peedhi dar peedhi chale aa rahe daawe hain, kisi jaanch ka nateeja nahi.
Households say that giving a teething baby something cold and firm to bite settles the ache and itching in the gums, and that rubbing with a finger brings the tooth through sooner. Many families also rub honey, ghee or sugar on the gums — but honey in any form is never given below one year because of infant botulism, and sugar damages the teeth that are coming through. These are claims handed down through generations, not findings from any study.

Sabut milta-julta hai
BMC Oral Health (2015) me chhape Iran ke ek clinical trial me 8 se 32 mahine ke 254 bachche shaamil the (ausat umar 16 mahine). Usme teething ring, god me lena aur masoodon ki maalish sabse zyada aaram dene wale tareeke nikle; barf aur jami hui cheezein sabse kam. Lekin ye trial randomised nahi tha aur aaram maa ki report se naapa gaya, isliye bharosa seemit hai. NHS bhi yahi salah deta hai — thanda (jama hua nahi) teething ring aur saaf ungli se maalish. Isi trial me ye bhi mila ki bukhar aur dast ka daant nikalne se koi taalluq nahi tha, yaani bukhar ko daant par nahi chhodna chahiye.
A clinical trial in BMC Oral Health (2015) followed 254 children aged 8 to 32 months (mean 16 months) in Shiraz, Iran. Teething rings, cuddling and rubbing the gums came out as the methods parents found most helpful; ice and frozen foods were the least. The trial was not randomised and relief was scored by mothers, so confidence in it is limited. The NHS advises the same things — a chilled, never frozen, teething ring and gum rubbing with a clean finger. The same trial found no link between teething and fever or diarrhoea, so a fever must never be put down to teething.
- teether ya kapde ka koi tukda toot kar muh me chala jaana
